James A. Simon, President |
James A. Simon, President James A. Simon has been president of Capital Funding Advisors, LLC since inception in April 2003. Capital Funding Advisors was formed after an extensive evaluation of alternative lending companies and has grown to $50 million in loans with well over $170 million of loans closed since inception.
Mr. Simon is a former bank President and Chief Executive Officer with 31 years of accomplishments in the commercial banking industry including three years in the bank regulatory industry, nine years in loan administration, direct lending, and correspondent banking, and nineteen years as bank president, chief administrator, director and shareholder. His duties included long-range planning, budgeting, policy making, personnel administration, systems control, management information systems and EDP processing. As President, CEO, Director and Shareholder of First National Bank of Colorado later acquired by Vectra Bank Colorado, Mr. Simon successfully created a high performance financial institution which achieved a CAMEL I rating, orchestrated the sale of the First National Bank of Colorado to Zions Bancorporation, structured a contractual arrangement with Zions Bancorporation to continue as President, was subsequently promoted to Regional President overseeing the mountain region including the Steamboat area, Roaring Fork Valley region of Aspen, Snowmass, Basalt and the Grand Valley. Mr. Simon effectively managed the Steamboat region increasing its asset size from $37.5 million to $140 million and increasing pre-tax profitability from $183,000 in 1990 to $6,500,000 for calendar years 2001 and 2002. The First National Bank of Colorado was ranked in the top 10 percent of peer banks for return on assets, top 5 percent in return on shareholders' equity and top 5 percent in growth.
Mr. Simon's educational and training background includes SouthWestern Graduate School of Banking, Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas, the Inter-Agency School of Banking, Washington, D.C. and University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa. Mr. Simon brings this considerable education and expertise to Capital Funding Advisors with an indepth understanding and knowledge of CFA's asset lending opportunities and its customers best interests.

Mike Sherrill, Senior Vice President |
Mike Sherrill, Senior Vice President Michael Sherrill has been Senior Vice President / Chief Financial Officer of Capital Funding Advisors, LLC since inception in April 2003. Mr. Sherrill's extensive experience and knowledge of real estate lending combined with a strong background in financial reporting, internal control systems and comptuer operations has contributed strongly to the success achieved by Capital Advisors.
Mr. Sherrill is a native of Steamboat Springs. After graduating from the University of Denver with a degree in international business, Mr. Sherrill went to work for Transnation Title Insurance Company in Denver and took on the responsibilities of managing the accounting and customer service departments within his first 60 days. He successfully managed 15 Denver branches and streamlined the departments to function at top efficiency. In 1999, Mr. Sherrill and his wife moved back to Steamboat and he began working for Vectra Bank Colorado as an Assistant Vice President, focused primarily on commercial and construction lending. During his banking tenure in Steamboat, Mr. Sherrill generated a $25 million loan portfolio, and was actively involved in generating and underwriting an additional $20 million on an annual basis.
Mr. Sherrill is a member of the Ski Town USA Rotary Club and currently serves on the board of directors for Routt County Crime Stoppers, En Gedi Retreat, and Koinonia Development Center. Mr. Sherrill spent six months with his wife working with university students in Russia immediately prior to co-founding Capital Funding Advisors, LLC. The program focused on leadership and personal development of the Russian students.

Irlan Neas, Senior Vice President For the past fifty years, Mr. Neas has provided banking services to the Steamboat community as a loan officer and community banking advocate. He is one of the most readily recognized and respected figures in the local banking industry and community at large. Mr. Neas was the last Mayor of Steamboat Springs, former President of the Steamboat Chamber of Commerce, past President of the Steamboat Kiwanis Club, past Treasurer and Board Member of the Routt Memorial Hospital and trustee of the Steamboat United Methodist Church.

Steve Dawes, Member Mr. Dawes is the President of Dawes and Associates, Inc., a resort property management consulting firm.
Mr. Dawes co-founded Steamboat Resorts in 1979 to provide personalized property management services for second homeowners of upscale properties in Steamboat Springs. Steamboat Resorts became the largest company of its kind in the Steamboat Springs market, eventually expanding offices into the Beaver Creek marketplace. The business was sold in 1995 and Mr. Dawes guided the development of Premier Resorts into a world leader in resort property management.
Mr. Dawes currently serves on the Board of Directors of the University of Colorado Hospital Authority; the Healthcare Foundation for the Yampa Valley; the Steamboat Springs Local Marketing District; the Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo Series; and the Steamboat Springs Ice Rink Advisory Committee.

Mark McElhinney, Member Since 1971, Mr. McElhinney, a registered Real Estate Broker, has participated in the development of over $100,000,000 of real estate property predominantly in the Steamboat market. He was a co-owner of Steamboat Resorts until 1994 and Steamboat Real Estate, Inc. Mr. McElhinney was an original shareholder and board member of the First National Bank of Colorado. He served on that board with fiduciary responsibility in loan approval and asset management. After Vectra Bank acquired First National, Mr. McElhinney served on Vectra Bank Colorado Steamboat Springs Advisory Board. Presently, Mr. McElhinney is an agent for Mason & Morse Real Estate, member of the Mount Werner Water Board, and the Strawberry Park Group. He spends most of his time in real estate development and ownership.

Jim Swiggart, Member In 1982, Mr. Swiggart co-founded Club Group international, a recreation industry management and consulting firm. Moving its operations from Houston, Texas to Steamboat Springs in 1991, he became the operator of the new Tennis Center at Steamboat Springs, North America’s finest indoor/outdoor public tennis facility. Mr. Swiggart is the past President of the United States Professional Tennis Association-Intermountain Region, past President of the Steamboat Springs and Ski Town USA Rotary Clubs, past board member of the Routt County United Way and Yampa Valley Healthcare Foundation, past Advisory Board member for Vectra Bank Colorado-Steamboat Springs and Catamount Ranch and Club.

Gary and Susan Wilson, Members Gary and Susan Wilson have over 60 years combined experience in the real estate industry. After searching the country to find the ideal location for their family and business, the Wilson's chose Steamboat Springs in 1993. In 1973, Gary Wilson started his California construction company, Valley Wide Homes, Inc. Valley Wide built nearly a thousand projects consisting of custom homes, commercial and industrial projects, with gross revenues of $68 million. Susan Wilson started her career in 1975 as a real estate broker in California. She started her own company, Elan Land Inc., and founded Casue Investment Inc. in 1978 as its President and Chief Financial Officer. Mrs. Wilson is a licensed real estate broker in California and Colorado and is currently with the Colorado Group Real Estate Company.
The Wilsons' own and manage real estate holdings in three states including one of the largest Hass avacado ranches in San Luis Obispo, California. They have combined their extensive experience and knowledge to design, build, and market some of Steamboat Springs most prestigious properties.
